FUND FOR THE FUTURE -New York Buddhist Church-

Now the NYBC is ready to complete Phase 2, which will take place in three stages. Stage 1 is the renovation of the hondo (main religious hall), a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC), and sound attenuation in the dojo/church gym used for martial arts, taiko drumming practice and other activities. Stage 2 and 3 incorporate the expansion of the main entrance with a glass-enclosed facade and elevator for handicap access, and an additional floor for the church office and a flexible meeting/classroom space. We are exploring "green standards" to provide environmentally safe and efficient conditions for NYBC.

The NYBC Board of Trustees, with feedback from the membership, spearheaded the renovation of 331 Riverside Drive. This new renovation and expansion will provide a peaceful, serene and rewarding environment and sustain the dream of our founder Rev. Hozen Seki to serve the religious, social and educational needs of the community.

The need: The budget is $1.69 million and the Fund for the Future has raised $230,000 to date. We request you pledge over the next five years for the remaining $1.46 million to complete the project. Our goal is to have raised $398,000 in 2008 and the balance by 2012.
